Discovering the Designer Behind Eanes Interiors: Shelby Eanes
Hi! I’m Shelby. Welcome to Eanes Interiors. I’m so happy that you’re here and hope you'll stay.
Born and raised in the South, I’m a Georgia peach by zip code with a soft heart, but Northern tough by heritage. A stubborn, but passionate Aries, I’m full of ambition - maybe too much sometimes - but as an older sister to a younger brother, I think all of that comes with the territory.
Met my husband, David, at a Publix grocery store when I was 16 where he worked as a bag boy and we’ve been best friends ever since. Last year we celebrated 15 years of marriage and went back to the place where it all began with our 2 kids – Landon (10) and Reagan (8). For more on our story, click here.
How did I get into design?
When I was little, you could always find me rearranging / redecorating my room and dollhouse. Trading Spaces became a popular program in my teens so when the time came for college, I knew Interior Design was calling my name. I went to the accredited program at Georgia Southern University where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in 2007. Voted most likely to end up in commercial design by my peers, that’s exactly what happened. Jumped right into a career upon graduating where I practiced for 7 years at a well-known Midtown, Atlanta firm prior to transitioning into sales as an Account Executive where I’ve been ever since to support the design community. This year I will celebrate my 17th year in the best industry.
How did Eanes Interiors come to be?
We purchased our 1973 fixer 6 years ago where we currently reside. From the moment we saw this house, we had a vision to transform every square inch to make it our own. Living up to the “money pit” nickname, their haven’t been any shortage of surprises from mold to cast iron pipe failures, termites, and even asbestos. With this being our second fixer upper, friends and family would often ask how our projects were going because, at the time, I did not do a good job of documenting, so I decided to start an Instagram account titled “Fairfield Fixer” in 2021 where I kept everyone up to date.
As time passed, I received many requests to help others. Although I was still working a full-time job when Covid hit, I found myself with more time on my hands and the ability to assist. As things picked up, I knew an LLC would be critical to report my new income so Eanes Interiors was born in November of 2021.
Once I officially changed my Instagram handle to @eanesinteriors, I had the idea to help others virtually. Through a variety of design packages at a reduced rate, my services were available to everyone, regardless of location or budget. Professional branding was created, a Trademark was established and website was built. We were off to the races and life was good. I loved helping others. I was blessed as things grew quickly, which resulted in sacrificed family time and, ultimately, burn out, so I sunset the virtual design portion of Eanes Interiors.
This was a tough decision, but I knew it was the right one so I could get back to where I was needed at this point in my life - family and renovating our home that I had neglected.
So here I am, nearly 16 years into marriage with an incredibly patient and supportive husband, fixing up our home and jumping into DIYs that I never imagined possible.
People often ask why we didn’t just buy a new house, but where’s the fun in that? I’m not a turn key kinda gal and have always been up for the challenge that’s allowed me to make new friends such as you and for that, I am grateful. ♡
xoxo
